The Dahsiang Creek Hydroelectric Power Plant in Taichung's Heping District has been transformed into the Dahsiang Creek Hydroelectric Power Plant Ecological Park (Ma'an Dam Ecological Park). This park combines forest water resources, electric power technology, and natural ecology, making it not only the core of central Taiwan's hydroelectric power generation but also a rich ecological corridor featuring diverse fish, birds, butterflies, macaques, wild boars, and plant species. The park serves dual functions of energy education and ecological observation. Additionally, it includes a bicycle rest stop, providing a comfortable environment for cyclists to take a break. Visitors can plan a trip here to enjoy the nearby forest's fresh air, visit the century-old hydraulic construction, the Baileng圳, or pair it with nearby attractions like Guguan Hot Spring and the Baxianshan Forest Recreation Area for an intellectual and relaxing journey. The park includes several tourist attractions such as green energy generation displays, a hydroelectric turbine, a technology exhibition hall, the Ma'an water inlet, a leisure pavilion, a heron island, the Tianlun Baileng suspension bridge, the Baileng圳 water intake, the new Tianlun tailwater, Baileng ice bars, Baileng meat buns, and an ecological fishway display. Notably, the green energy generation display area features relevant power generation equipment, where visitors can see real-time power generation data on-site, illustrating how wind and solar power generation are affected by weather. Furthermore, visitors can experience operating a hydroelectric turbine to understand the principles of hydroelectric power generation. The ecological fishway display area has an observation walkway and fish-viewing windows, allowing visitors to observe the actual migration of fish. The Tianlun Baileng suspension bridge, located between Ma'an Dam and the Dahsiang Creek Hydroelectric Power Plant, spans 100 meters across the Dahsiang Creek. Originally the main passage between the two sides of Dahsiang Creek in the Baileng area, due to safety concerns, the bridge is now restricted to pedestrian use, and vehicles are redirected to pass through the top of Ma'an Dam. Walking on the bridge, one can look upstream to the outlet of the Dahsiang Creek Hydroelectric Power Plant and downstream to see herons soaring through the sky, taking in the beauty of hydraulic resources and natural ecology. Before leaving the park, visitors should not miss the local delicacies, such as the "Baileng ice bars" produced by the consumer cooperative and the over 40-year-old Hakka-style bun, "Baileng meat buns."
