During the 1990s, this was a well-known night market in Wufeng. Afterwards, it evolved into a commercial district. The area on Shuren Road, adjacent to the Wufeng District Farmers' Association in Taichung, was originally a street-closed Wufeng Shuren Night Market. The closed street spanned from the intersection of Sihde Road to Yucheng Road, making it one of the major night markets in southern Taichung. In 2001, the Commercial Affairs Division of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan, commissioned a consulting team to redevelop the business district on Shuren Road. This led to the transformation of the original Shuren Road Night Market into the Shuren Road commercial district. Prior to the merger of Taichung City in late 2010, it was one of the three major food commercial districts in Taichung City. Currently, it remains one of the renowned food commercial districts in southern Taichung.
