Simplified Chinese Japanese English Korean Tong Liang Ancient Banyan is located in Tong Liang Village, Baisha Township, Penghu County. It has stood in front of the local Baian Temple for more than three hundred years and is also the only such elderly banyan tree on Penghu's main island. Despite being over three centuries old, it remains steadfast; the pine branches and leaves are dense, and the branches intertwine and spread in all directions, forming a very large natural shade and rest area that bears witness to Penghu’s three hundred years of people and events, rich in historical and cultural significance. With a wide coverage area, its legendary background makes it one of the nationally known “divine trees.” Penghu has long had the title “Tong Liang Banyan, Chihkan Palace.” Entering Baian Temple, you can clearly see the natural shade canopy woven by the banyan tree’s branches right at the gate. With the 300‑year‑old banyan tree as its guardian, Baian Temple is always bustling with incense, drawing many people who admire it. Tong Liang Ancient Banyan preserves many stone tablets carved by ancient people, mostly commemorating the tree’s lushness and longevity. Such an old and thriving banyan tree is very rare and requires active preservation. If you visit Baian Temple to see Tong Liang Ancient Banyan, please remember: besides memories and photos, do not leave any marks on the banyan tree! 【Suggested duration】 0.5 hours
