Located at the junction of Sanxia, Pinglin and Shishi, Shihongqiweishan Mountain is the source of the Keelung River, Beishi Stream and Xindian Stream. It got its name from the shape of the mountain which looks like a Taoist's (in Taiwanese) bun tail and also known as Huoshiao Liao Mountain. It is the highest peak in the Shishi Mountain Range. Most tourists start at the historic Nan Shan Temple ( commonly known as Xian Temple), where you can enjoy the sea of clouds, tea plantation and Dashi Lake. Following the winding industrial road to the trailhead, it's easy to get to the top of Shihongqiweishan Mountain which has a 360-degree view. The beautiful scenery of Pinglin, Jiufen, Shuangxi and the peaks along Beishi Stream are all in sight. On the other direction, you can see Huangdi Dianyuan, Qixing Mountain, Daitun Mountain, Guanyin Mountain and Taipei 101. It's suitable for sightseeing, watching the sunrise, sunset or enjoying the autumn view. It is a suitable a hiking trail for all ages.
