The Da-Nong Da-Fu Lowland Forest Recreation Area is Taiwan’s first lowland forest recreation park, boasting rich natural ecosystems. Each season offers unique attractions: spring for cherry blossoms, summer for fireflies and birdwatching, and autumn and winter for maple leaves. Inside the park, North Loop and South Loop bike trails allow visitors to cycle while absorbing phytoncides, and the lucky may spot ring-necked pheasants foraging along the way. Surrounded by the Central Range and Coastal Range, the Da-Nong Da-Fu Lowland Forest offers a vast view. In spring, visitors can admire a colorful flower field in front of the visitor center, while the open meadow features imaginative installation art that always captures travelers’ eyes and becomes a popular photo spot. From March to April, tiny glows begin to shimmer in the grass after dusk, and the firefly population becomes so dense it resembles a moving river of silver—unbearable to look away. Paying close attention to guides’ explanations during these visits allows an enriching ecological tour. Autumn and winter each bring the South Loop trail to life, as trees like the Kusamakura, Alstonia, and maples gradually transition from green to yellow and then red, drawing many visitors to photograph the autumn scenery. Cycling along the South Loop trail, listening to leaves rustling, and admiring the vibrant maple forest creates a romantic winter vibe found only in Da-Nong Da-Fu.
