台灣豐原區中正路179號
Located at the intersection of Zhongzheng Road and Shiyi Road, Ciji Temple is the spiritual center of the Fengyuan district, primarily dedicated to the Goddess Mazu, also known as the Heavenly Holy Mother. Established during the Qing Yongzheng era, the temple has a history of over 200 years, initially named as "Guanyin Pavilion". During the Japanese rule, it was converted into a school. In the sixth year of the Taisho period (1917), under the active promotion of local gentry Mr. Zhang Lijun, the temple underwent repairs, laying the foundation for its current appearance. Later, under the efforts of Mr. Guo Shilai and many others, after the 921 earthquake, the temple was restored in an ancient style, and the Ciji Building, Cultural Building, and other projects were completed. Ciji Temple also houses a library, a chanting group, and the Ciming Group, among others. The main hall enshrines Mazu, alongside other deities such as the Emperor of Agriculture, Emperor of Literature, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Earth Mother, and Note-taking Mother. A former chairman of Ciji Temple once said, "Inserting incense into the furnace is not as good as sincerely facing heaven; praying to gods is not as good as cultivating oneself." As long as the faithful are sincere and cultivate themselves, even just clasping hands and paying homage is sufficient. Every year on the eve of Mazu's birthday, Ciji Temple holds a grand festival. On Mazu's birthday (the 23rd day of the third lunar month), a procession takes place, which is an important annual celebration.
