The Railway Landscape Park is right next to Shanjia Station; walk along Shanjia Street and you’ll spot today’s trendiest 3-D murals on the walls—great white sharks, kangaroos, dinosaurs, Formosan black bears, all playful and lifelike. In June 2017 a 47-year-old 35H1304 black hopper and a DL1044 switcher were installed in the park. To dovetail with TRA’s restoration of Shanjia Station, the project also covers repairs to the New Taipei City designated historic station and improvements to its surroundings. Centered on the century-old station, the plan blends railway imagery with the hottest 3-D street art, integrates the station plaza, Shanjia Street, and the rail reserve left after the tunnel realignment, and creates a railway landscape park that links nearby attractions to boost local tourism.
