Located above the Fugang Fish Harbor in Shimen District, New Taipei City, this temple enshrines the main deity, the Tibetan Love Gurun Gulei Buddha Mother. On either side of the main hall, there is a pair of trees with entwined branches, known as the couple tree. Every weekend, numerous devotees flock to the temple to pray for love, marriage, and family harmony. The origin of the Lover's Temple dates back to the two ancient banyan trees beside the temple - the Old Tree Husband and the Old Tree Wife. Although they stand on either side of the main hall, their branches are intertwined, creating a unique sight. After its establishment, the temple's founder, Jiang Zhengyi, and a metaphysics expert, Wang Luojiu, decided to invite the Love Gurun Gulei Buddha Mother from Tibet, China, to be enshrined in the temple. In Tibetan Buddhism, the Buddha Mother is believed to govern love, marriage, couple's emotions, family safety, childbirth, and prosperity. The statue of the Buddha Mother is distinctive, holding a love arrow in one hand and a love rope in the other. Unlike general lover's temples, where couples and lovers are often advised not to visit together, the Shimen Lover's Temple welcomes couples and lovers to pray together.
