The founder of Daxing Goodness Temple is Master Fuhui, a Buddhist nun whose life is full of legendary stories. Since she became a nun, she practiced asceticism, such as not lying down and not speaking, and even communicated with her disciples through written notes. She specialized in the Dabeiguan (Great Compassion) practice, and the "Dabeishui" (Great Compassion Water) she blessed was famous far and wide for its healing properties. The surroundings of Daxing Goodness Temple are serene and peaceful, with lush green bamboo and dense trees. Inside the temple, the statue of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva is enshrined. Although the temple appears simple and rustic, it attracts a large following from all over Taiwan, with a steady stream of devotees visiting, especially on holidays. On special occasions such as the birthdays of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the temple offers free blessed Tangyuan (sweet glutinous rice balls), noodles, and vegetarian meals to welcome everyone and share in the joy of the Dharma.
