The Cihe Temple is located in Yuanbei Village of this town, and it enshrines the Heavenly Mother as its main deity. The Cihe Temple, formerly known as the Mazu outside the city, is one of the two major centers of faith in Yuanli, along with the Shuntian Temple. Due to factors such as transportation construction and urban development, the Cihe Temple has surpassed the Shuntian Temple in terms of both architectural scale and the number of believers, making it the largest center of faith in Yuanli. The temple was originally built in 1714 (Kangxi 53) on the north side of the present-day market on Tianxia Road. In 1772 (Qianlong 37), it was rebuilt and moved to its current location through the efforts of Huang Zai-rong, Huang Ying-lu, and Chen Zhi-cheng. The Cihe Temple enshrines Mazu as its main deity, and also enshrines the Goddess of Childbirth, The Three Mountain Kings, The City God, The Emperor Guan, The Jade Emperor, The Supreme Deity, The Three Frontier Generals, The Emperor of Literature, The Longevity Emperor, The Emperor of the Violet Star, The Tai Sui Star Lord, and more. The temple houses many antiques. In addition to the "Pengshan Cihe Temple Monument", the statues of Mazu, the shrine table, the Thousand-Li-Eye and Wind-Ear on the altar, and more, are all original. There is also a stone-carved incense burner from 1771 (Qianlong 36), a wooden shrine table, a 1773 (Qianlong 38) plaque "The Standard of Sea Country", and a plaque bestowed by the emperor in 1885 (Guangxu 11) to commend the Temple's Heavenly Mother for her meritorious service in saving the emperor's life, which reads "Eternally with Heaven".
