台中市霧峰區桐林里北坑溪
The area was originally planted with many kapok trees and tung trees, and was thus called "Tonglin". Every April and May, the trees bloom, and the sight of white flowers fluttering about is breathtakingly beautiful. Taiwanese macaques, pangolins, and white-nosed monkeys can often be seen foraging for food in the forest, and rare Taiwanese endemic species such as the azure-winged magpie and the Taiwan whistling-thrush can also be spotted. At night, fireflies flicker with soft light, and groups of dragonflies and butterflies flit about the mountains and forests. This is a prime location for observing natural ecosystems. Standing at the highest point, one can gaze out at the beautiful view of the Jiǔjiǔ Fēng group in the distance, or take in the panorama of Taichung City. In order to allow visitors to get closer to this vast and pristine natural forest, the park has been developed with the principle of low-impact development, avoiding areas with fragile and dangerous terrain. Five networked ring trails have been planned, including the Tonglin Huā Láng Trail, Aòshān Trail, Běikēngxī Trail, Běikēngxī Trail branch, and Zhāngshù Lín Trail, with a total length of over 4,500 meters. Six wooden pavilions and observation decks have been built, allowing visitors to choose a trail that suits their physical abilities and take a leisurely hike through the forest, admiring the forest landscape and flora and fauna, resting and absorbing the forest's fragrance, and enjoying a wonderful spiritual feast amidst the natural scenery.
