新北市瑞芳區224粗坑口路16號
The Cukuikou Trail is located in Siājiao Village, Ruifang District. The trailhead is at the junction of Cukuilu Road and Ruifang Road No. 8, near the Siājiao Bus Stop. The trail starts near the Longxing Temple, a historic temple built during the Qianlong period of the Qing dynasty. A short distance from the temple, near a public cemetery, lies the abandoned Sanrong coal mine. The mine was owned by a woman, and locals refer to Cukuikou as "Cha-mo-pit" or "widow's pit". Although there are many forks along the trail, they are well-marked with signs, making it difficult to get lost. At the upper end of the trail, take a short walk along the production road to the right (about 3-5 minutes). There is an observation deck, which offers a view of Siājiao and Wufenshan. Cukuikou has a history of gold mining spanning nearly a century. During the heyday of gold mining, the area attracted a population of 3,000 and was one of Taiwan's three major consumer centers, along with Jinguashi and Jiufen. The area was known for its entertainment venues, including casinos, hotels, and billiard halls, and was nicknamed "Little America". The films "The Puppetmaster", "A Confucian Confusion", and "The Wedding Banquet" were shot in this area. The abandoned elementary school, which appears in the movie "Dosan", is also located here.
