Tutingzai was once the site of the Thao Shiyinshe settlement; today it serves as the ancestral spirit worship ground for the Shi clan. The trail therefore adopts the Thao mascot—the owl—as its theme. Four kilometers south of Riyue Village, a pavilion marks the junction of Mount Saba and Jiadonglun, where an owl statue announces the entrance. An elevated wooden walkway protects the existing terrain and vegetation, while interpretive panels along the way provide information on Thao culture. At the trail’s end a lookout tower offers panoramic views of mountains and waters to the south, north, and west.
