The existing Shei-tou Dou-shan Shrine is a traditional Min-Yue Han-style building from the Japanese era. Its internal structure belongs to the raised beam wooden framework. The wooden carvings are elaborately crafted, especially the painted and lacquered decorations, which exhibit distinct regional features. These works were a collaborative effort between artisans from the Changhua and Yunlin schools, with diverse and richly symbolic content and themes. The Dou-shan Shrine was significantly damaged by the 921 Earthquake, with serious damage to certain key structural components. Although reinforced restoration has maintained its original appearance, further conservation work remains necessary. The Dou-shan Shrine, serving as an ancestral family temple, not only symbolizes historical cultural heritage and ethnic spirit but is also deeply interwoven with the local social and cultural fabric.
