2024-04-12
台北市士林區中山區中山北路四段11巷
"The Taiyuan 500 Martyrs Memorial Architecture Group" was established in March 1950, according to a directive from the Executive Yuan, based on a consultation letter from the Legislative Yuan, instructing the Ministry of Finance to advance funds, the Taiwan Provincial Government to provide land, and the Ministry of the Interior and the Taiwan Provincial Government to jointly supervise the construction with the temporary office of the Shanxi Provincial Government. After its completion on February 19, 1951, it was handed over to the local government for management. Since the establishment of Taipei City, it has been managed by the Taipei City Government's Bureau of Civil Affairs since 1988. In addition, the heroic martyrs of the "Taiyuan 500 Martyrs" were approved to be enshrined in the National Revolutionary Martyrs' Shrine on March 29, 1970. The monument, memorial hall, and soul-summoning tomb were built along an axis in accordance with the mountain's terrain. The architectural design is of high standard, including gate pavilions, monuments, memorial halls, soul-summoning tombs, and steles. The layout is standard and well-organized, with a soul-summoning stele inscribed by Sun Li-ren. The entrance is on the left, and the fengshui is also very carefully considered. This memorial architecture group is a product of the Chinese Civil War. Although the "Taiyuan 500 Martyrs" does not fully conform to historical facts, it still represents a social "reality" and reflects the changes in the modern history of both sides of the Taiwan Strait and Taiwan's "history education."
