The Koo family, in an effort to preserve the traditional culture of Lukang, and adhering to the principle of "taking from society and giving back to society," donated ancestral land, buildings, furniture, utensils, and collections in 1973 (Republic of China Year 62), and simultaneously established a trust foundation for long-term management. It has since become a museum showcasing cultural artifacts with local characteristics.
