The Toda Yoshikazu Residence is situated on the hillside of Pu'ou Mountain, facing south with a north orientation. It is nestled on a slope, with a steep drop in front and a panoramic view of the Danshui River and Guanyin Mountain. The original site was used as a field for the Xuehai Academy during the Qing dynasty. The current address is No. 19, Makase Street, near Danshui Library, Little White Palace, and Wenhua Elementary School. The house exudes a rich Japanese ambiance and boasts Taiwan's first-ever private residence equipped with a modern plumbing system. This pioneering achievement not only marked a significant milestone in Taiwan's water supply history but also holds great historical value. Designated as a municipally protected historic site in New Taipei City in April 2005, the Toda Yoshikazu Residence offers a quintessential Japanese experience without leaving Taiwan, making it an ideal spot for couples to take romantic photos. With its elevated location, visitors can enjoy a stunning view of the Danshui River and Guanyin Mountain. The building's frame is constructed from Taiwan red cypress, with well-preserved exterior wooden siding, black roof tiles, and a flat ceiling adorned with rods inside.
