Ba Li Ferry Terminal Old Street

2024-04-11
新北市八里區渡船頭街
Bali was opened earlier than Daxi, serving as a port for commercial exchanges between Taipei and the mainland in the past. During its prosperous business period, there were even 13 "hangjiao" (merchant associations) to meet various trade demands. The 13 Hangjiao symbolize the bright and prosperous era of Bali, and archaeologists also use this term to refer to newly discovered Neolithic cultural relics. With convenient transportation, Bali can be reached by taking a ferry from Daxi or by cycling along the banks of the Daxi River. The vast green spaces, open-air cafes, and uniquely shaped museums have transformed Bali, making it a new leisure destination on the left bank of New Taipei City. Bali Ferry Terminal Old Street is one of Bali's "senior" attractions, located on the street next to the port. In the past, people entering and leaving Bali would gather here, gradually forming a market. Street vendors sell freshly caught seafood, among which the most famous is the peacock clam. Many people who come to Bali would take a bag of fresh peacock clams home. After the renovation project, the appearance of the old street is different from before. The previously chaotic streets have been re-paved and renovated into a neat scene. The small shops with red tile roofs and white walls highlight the unique flavor of the rural ports in Taiwan. Restaurants and street food also become more attractive, with salted eggs, pepper cakes, twin dumplings, shrimp rolls, fish lips, and fried squid balls, allowing you to enjoy a delicious meal as soon as you arrive.
