Coastal water recreation is one of the nation’s favorite leisure activities. With demand growing, the Taichung City Tourism Bureau conducted a comprehensive survey of the waters near Da-an Beach to ensure public safety. Following assessment, surfing and beach activities have been permitted since 1 Aug 2013. Allowed activities: beach play, surfing, kite-surfing.
For safety reasons, coliform levels in the water off Da-an Coastal Park are still unstable; swimming is strongly discouraged.
Nearby attractions include the only mangrove forest in greater Taichung—the “Mangrove Eco-Park”—as well as “Gu-shell Eco-Park” on the south bank of the Wenliao River estuary, “Egret Grove,” “Da-an Water-fern Eco-Education Park,” and “A-cong-shi Taro Culture Center.” Come experience Da-an’s rich ecology. At night, check in to the seaside luxury camping site “Nayang Beach.”
