Mission Concepción is a historic mission in San Antonio, Texas. Established in 1716 as the third of the five Spanish colonial missions in the area, it was originally known as Misión de Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de Acuña.
The mission's name translates to "Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception" and it was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It is one of the oldest churches in Texas and features a blend of Spanish Colonial and Mexican Baroque architectural styles.
Its interior features an impressive barrel-vaulted nave, with intricate stone carvings and ornate frescoes painted by artist Antonio Montañés in 1704. The mission's church also boasts a stunning collection of original 18th-century artwork.
Today, Mission Concepción is a museum and a place of worship, attracting visitors from around the world who come to marvel at its beauty and significance in American history.
