Selling Rice Ancient Trail

台北市信義區吳興街600巷100弄底
The character "糶" (tiào) in the "Jumimi Ancient Trail" is pronounced "tiào" and means "to sell grain." "Jumimi" means "selling rice."

During the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty, farmers in the Sanzhangli area decided not to take the long flat road in order to save time and energy, and thus carved out this mountain path. The path, with a total of 500 stone steps, enabled the quick transportation of rice and grain from areas such as Nangang, Muzha, Shenkeng, and Jingmei, and also facilitated trade.

Because there is a "Jumimi Gong Temple" on the ancient trail, it is called the "Jumimi Ancient Trail," and some people also refer to it as the "Tiaomi Ancient Trail." Due to the steep steps, it is said that people carrying rice would often stop here to rest on their way. To express their gratitude to the Earth God for protecting their journey, they would leave a bowl of rice when resting. Over time, the locals built a simple stone temple to show respect to the Earth God. After several renovations, it became the current "Jumimi Gong Temple."

There is also a "Dexing Coal Mine Entrance" nearby. The Dexing Coal Mine started operation around 1897, and reached its peak during the 35th to 37th years of the Republic of China era. Later, when the coal veins were exhausted, the coal from Songshan became extinct. Now, only the mine entrance remains for visitors to tour.

In the year 2000, the Jumimi Ancient Trail was renovated, with the stone steps being re-laid, an arch bridge, wooden walkways, and interpretive signs along the Jumimi Ancient Trail were added, which is how it looks today.
