The Taipei Music Center is located between Nangang Station and Kunyang Station on the MRT Blue Line. With a 8.96 ha site area, the composite park is separated into a North Base and a South Base by Mayor Avenue. The North Base houses the "Performance Hall," a medium-to-large performing venue specifically for pop music shows that caters to 6,000 people. The South Base encompasses venues like the "Popular Music Culture Hall," which reveals the glorious history and diverse aspects of Taiwanese pop music through thematic exhibitions, and the "Industrial Park," aimed at cultivating local musical talent. Combining pop music culture and contemporary trends, the Taipei Music Center functions as not only a performance venue, but also a multifunctional district centered on the pop music industry, describing pop culture and lifestyle. The architecture is designed by U.S. firm RUR Architecture and drew inspiration from ancient Roman forums. By integrating art, commerce, marketplace, and performance activities in a circular space, it seeks to support a 24-hour "functional architecture" with different uses by a wide range of users including local citizens, music industry professionals, and overseas tourists. The North and South bases are seamlessly connected by stylish footbridges; the three main architectural structures align on the same horizontal axis to reinforce the overall architectural harmony and guide visitors visually to different destinations. Looking forward, the Taipei Music Center aims to become a landmark of Mandarin pop music in Asia. In addition to gathering creative talents, the center expects to promote clusters of pop music and its ancillary industries, showcase the excellence of Taiwanese pop music culture, and foster cross-industry synergy between music and cultural industries.
