宜蘭縣礁溪鄉北門巷39號
Wu Sha was a significant contributor to the development of Yilan. Back then, Yilan was uncharted and uninhabited. Wu Sha led Han immigrants from Zhangzhou, Quanzhou, and Guangdong to Yilan for reclamation. Initially, they often clashed with the Kavalan people. However, a smallpox epidemic broke out later. Wu Sha provided medicine to help the Kavalan people, who were deeply grateful. From then on, they lived in harmony, laying the foundation for the development of Yilan. Wu Sha was therefore revered as the first person to open up Yilan. During his lifetime, Wu Sha visited Jiaoxi and thought the terrain was excellent, so he built a house and settled there. His former residence is a century-old three-in-one courtyard house. The couplet on the gate reads: "A true pioneer without equal, The very first person to open up Lanyang." It is currently planned to be the "Wu Sha Memorial Hall." The mottled red brick exterior wall exudes a rich, ancient charm. Although the current Wu Sha residence has been renovated, one can still feel the traces of a century-old house. The walls inside the house are adorned with many brief introductions, achievements, and plaques, mostly related to Lanyang. There is also a shrine dedicated to Wu Sha's memorial tablet and portrait. Visitors interested in the history of Yilan's development can come here for a visit and are sure to gain a lot from it!
