Cloaked in mystery, Houcihu has opened to the public after restrictions by the military authorities were lifted. Originally a small lake where President Chiang and his wife took walks and rowed boats, the scenic trail enters through the Houcihu side gate, crosses a small hill, spans about 2 km, featuring charming scenery. Historical relics from the martial law era, such as command centers,碉堡 (bunkers), controlled gates, and offices, also remain worth visiting. When Taoyuan City Government reopened the area in 2009, five original government housing buildings were preserved to showcase Houcihu's historical, ecological, and Chiang family cultural lifestyles, including recreating the Chiang home's living space. The park's rich ecosystem features jumping spiders, diverse bird and frog species, and a forest trail of Taiwan's endemic cypress species (Shiao Nanmu). Walking there, enjoying the reflection of Houcihu, offers presidential-class leisure.
