The pristine Inner Bay Beach, with its serene atmosphere and pleasant scenery, often attracts couples to stroll and enjoy their sweet moments together, which is why it's also romantically known as "Lover's Bay." Along the Suhua Highway (at the 108km mark) heading from Suao to Hualien, there's an elevated point: the Nanfang'ao Scenic Platform. From the west side of the platform, you can gaze out at the majestic view of Mt. Houtou; to the north, you can look down upon Inner Bay and the Tofu Gorge. Nanfang'ao was originally an offshore island; due to the accumulation of sand and gravel along the coast to the south of the island, it became connected to the mainland, forming a tombolo. When viewed from the side of the mountain, the tombolo appears as a series of small hills lying across the sea, with an elevation of less than 100 meters. The terrain features a distinct saddle shape, especially on the right side with three hills that resemble a pen holder, which locals call Pen Holder Mountain. From the scenic platform, you can also gaze out at Suao Harbor, making it an ideal spot for tourists to admire the sea, enjoy the scenery, and await the sunrise. The second fishing harbor is the crescent-shaped Inner Bay Beach, where fishing boats are neatly docked in rows. When viewed from the Nanfang'ao Scenic Platform, it's the most beautiful of the three fishing harbors.
