The Shanjian Ancient Trail was paved with granite stone steps in 1997 and was renamed the "Scenic Trail," reflecting the government's policy mindset at the time. In 1997, several famous ancient trails in Jiufen were renovated for tourism development, and the original rustic old stone steps were replaced with wide and flat granite stone steps. When it comes to Jinguashi, the Shanjian Road Scenic Trail is a highly recommended attraction. The Shanjian Ancient Trail was a historic trail that used to connect Jiufen and Shuiyuanandong. However, with the construction of highways, the trail gradually fell into disuse due to lack of traffic. The trail was built along the mountain road for gold mining, and along the way, you'll pass by the Shuiyun Bridge (also known as the Golden Bridge). There's a secret garden next to the bridge that only locals know about, and it's not easy to find. Walking on this trail evokes a sense of nostalgia and ancient charm. The trail is located on the eastern side of the Keelung Mountain, and there are many Shishanli village homestays near the trail. Walking down the trail, you can have a distant view of the Yin and Yang Sea. The entire journey takes about two hours.
