The National Taitung Center for Living Arts is located across the street from the Taitung County Government. The site was originally the Taitung Martial Virtue Hall during the Japanese colonial era. After its removal in 1980, the complex was rebuilt as a modern structure, now serving as Taitung's base for promoting aesthetic education and deepening an art-centric environment. Strolling through the well-lit venue, exhibition halls display individual works by local artists or themed group exhibitions. Ranging from painting to sculpture, from multimedia creations to works using composite materials, the displays offer insights into art's diverse realms and artists' heartfelt passion from their own perspectives. Sometimes, artisans also set up workshops in the exhibition areas, such as glass bead-making, flax grass weaving, and indigo dyeing, letting art blend into daily life and sparking creativity within each person. At night, the National Taitung Center for Living Arts exudes a particularly romantic atmosphere. The “Cultural Broadway” space hosts irregular nighttime events featuring performances by local bands, amateur musicians, and more. The spontaneous, melodic music always draws crowds, offering visitors a relaxing and enchanting evening in a relaxed and free-spirited ambiance.
