Dahao Street was originally inhabited by the Pingpu people. Due to the intense clashes between the Wanhua (Monga) and Tong'an people, the Pingpu people moved to Dahao Street to settle down. This marked the beginning of the construction of stores and houses along the Danshui River. After the opening of Danshui Port, under the governance of Liu Mingchuan, Dahao Street became the most thriving goods distribution center in Taipei City. Tea and fabrics were the primary commodities traded, with the areas around Yanping North Road and Guide Street being the hub of commercial activity. This also made the early history of Dahao Street rich, colorful, and memorable.
