Originating in 1969, Puli's early timber industry nurtured the proliferation of over 450 woodworking factories. The "Hai-Shan Handicraft Studio" emerged from the collective efforts of the three Shih brothers. Initially known for mass-producing Christmas decorations such as Christmas pyramids and aromatic wooden puppets for export, the studio was distinguished by its rare production of "nutcrackers" and "music boxes." In 2012, Hai-Shan shifted to focus on music boxes, transforming into a hands-on woodworking studio open to visitors. Building on past expertise in woodworking, the workshop evolved from traditional manufacturing into designing, producing, and marketing its own branded products while utilizing underused factory space to promote Puli's historical woodworking culture and revive the value of traditional craftspeople. One of the second-generation management goals is to elevate former DIY products through greater refinement and customization, offering unique, givable festive gifts that express deep personal sentiments. These simple yet meaningful creations become unreplaceable tokens of affection for those who matter most in one's life. The vision is to enable visitors to cherish Hai-Shan's crafted items and carry treasured memories into significant festive celebrations, a mission deemed eminently worth pursuing.
