The Self-Waterworks Park is located in the southern part of the Taipei Basin, at the hub of the Gongguan commercial district. It covers an area of approximately 20 hectares and is nestled in a natural environment with hills and water, serving as the origin of Taipei's self-waterworks. The park is not only a recreational area with water features such as water town gardens and fountain gardens for people of all ages to enjoy, but also an environmental education facility focused on "water resource conservation." In addition to the operational Gongguan Water Purification Plant, the park also features historical sites such as the Taipei Waterworks Source Pumping Station (Self-Waterworks Museum), built during the Japanese period, which had the highest water supply capacity in Taiwan, the Guanyinshan Reservoir, the water measuring room, and the post-war Muddy Water Pumping Station. The environmental education center in the park has carefully developed water resource lesson plans suitable for different age groups. Furthermore, the small Guanyinshan hill within the park, covering about 5 hectares, preserves a complete native broadleaf forest ecosystem typical of shallow mountains and low-altitude areas, offering opportunities for ecological exploration courses. The proximity to the Baozangyan International Art Village, Hakka Cultural Theme Park, and riverside bicycle paths provides diverse options for visitors.
