Hidden behind the Shulin Back Station, a few hundred feet to the left front is "Shulin Ice-Cooled Braised Snacks," a modest food stand that has earned a name in the Shulin area and gained the acclaim of food connoisseurs. Many customers from Taipei specifically drive or take the train to visit. This unassuming food cart is located at the entrance of a mattress store; both businesses are owned by the same person. More than twenty years ago, the owner originally sold mattresses in Taipei, later relocating to Shulin and continuing with mattress sales. However, in the evenings, they also began selling a family-received recipe for braised dishes. Unexpectedly, after a dozen years or more, the shop has accumulated many loyal customers, and through word-of-mouth, the delicious dishes available only in the evenings from this vendor attract a steady crowd no sooner they are put out for sale each day.
