Owner Xiao-Qi thinks of a bar as a skit: after a hectic day, you pause for a cocktail, let the clutter in your mind settle, then head home to rest. Or it’s a gentle segue between life’s scenes; the bartender becomes a ferryman, swaying in a shared rhythm to see you safely ashore. Bar Skitz sits in a quiet corner of Central Plaza, a short walk from Wenhua Road’s shopping district. As the Chiayi tourist tide rises and more young people return home, nightlife grows ever brighter. All of it feeds Xiao-Qi’s inspiration: “Shang,” designed for night owls, blends mellow brandy with tea and coffee, its rich finish unfurling like the mountain range that guards the city. “Mountain Mist” builds on gin and Alishan’s Oriental Beauty oolong, finished tableside with a swirl of dried pine needles and oak-smoked fog—a ritual evocation of cloud-wrapped peaks.
