The S-shaped Wulu Gorge features vibrant rock walls, the meandering and crystal-clear Wulu Creek roaring down through the valley. The majestic scenery of this canyon can rival that of Taroko National Park, and it's known as one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Nanhsiang Road. The steep and spectacular gorge draws countless nature enthusiasts from both home and abroad who come to appreciate the rugged beauty. Standing on the Tienshylung Suspension Bridge overlooking the formidable splendor of Wulu Gorge, exploring the Wulu Artillery Position to learn about the anti-Japanese history, or soaking feet in the Shikoku Hot Spring and enjoying full-body immersion in the Pishan Onsen, all allow one to deeply experience the tranquil and distant mountain atmosphere. Driving along Nanhsiang Road while passing through Wulu Gorge, geothermal steam can often be seen rising from the rock crevices of the lower canyon. Hot springs surge from the mountain fissures, and the minerals in the spring water create watermarks in yellow, brown, black, and emerald green colors on the cliffs, resembling naturally formed murals that evoke tremendous surprise and admiration. These rich hot spring resources allow visitors to either adventure in the gorge for natural hot spring soaking along the riverbed or to enjoy hot spring baths in local inns for winter relaxation. The Tienshylung Suspension Bridge, spanning 110 meters in length and under 1.5 meters in width, connects both sides of the gorge. The bridge once served as part of the Guanshan Ridge Trail built during Japanese colonial rule. After crossing the bridge from Nanhsiang Road, hiking along the locally restored ancient trail provides a 1,089-meter journey back to the highway, offering prime views to overlook the magnificent Wulu Gorge.
