Moving into the old house next to Chongwen Park was to become more rooted in the local scene. Archer’s original introduction when the venture began: offering serious food and desserts, along with an unwillingness to compromise with the mundane… Now it simply, powerfully reads: desserts, coffee, sandwiches—straightforward yet full of imagination. Browsing Archer’s daily posts, you’ll find that beyond serving food and drinks, the shop regularly displays vintage finds and occasionally transforms into a stage for the arts: hosting indie-band gigs, markets, even guest tattooists. Owners Herong and Qixun first built their brand online with handmade desserts, then—together with friends who ran a select shop—rented an old apartment on Beirong St. and ran a multi-level, multi-purpose space. When that became too small, they moved into a courtyard-walled red-brick old house beside Chongwen Park, a beautiful, leisurely spot. “We came here to be more local,” Herong says. Archer 2.0’s interior is mainly warm, cozy green, with vintage furniture and knick-knacks paired with green plants, feathers, and classic art lamps—a modern-retro space.
