Quietly beautiful where land meets sea, the Luoshan Nature Trail, spanning approximately 700 meters, is situated at the border of mountains and seas. Originally a narrow path used by Houou locals for picking oysters and fishermen, it stretches along a cliffside with steep stairs, requiring about 40 minutes round-trip. Along the trail are two viewing platforms; the terminus offers a view of the maritime Confucius statue. Due to the influence of prevailing winds, vegetation growth is restrained on the trail, yet the rare Matsu endemic, Pierrea's柃 (Pierrea's柃 wood), is frequently seen. The long exposure to northeast monsoons creates a unique "wind-shear effect," shaping elegant tree postures like bonsai, displaying a rugged beauty of natural sculpture.
During April and May each year, wild lilies bloom profusely beneath the trees and alongside the trail, creating unparalleled scenery. Along the coastline, a peculiar rock resembling the Sage Confucius stands motionlessly upon the sea, listening to waves and gazing at the ocean, forming an intriguing landscape. As a multifunctional trail combining fitness walking, sightseeing, wave watching, and shore fishing, Luoshan Nature Trail offers the serene allure of mountain stillness and ocean surges right before your eyes. It's worth savoring in detail.
Note: Due to strong winds and rugged terrain, please prioritize safety.
