The Wushun station is the first elevated station on the red line that runs north from the south through the half-screen mountain. It is located near the Zuoying Naval Military District, and its exterior design resembles a white sailboat, cutting through the green waves of the half-screen mountain, echoing the image of Kaohsiung as a maritime city. Stepping inside, the station becomes an entirely different world. Its theme is an aerial rainforest, created by two artists from the WJI team. They have reproduced the insects and plants that once existed and still remain in southern Taiwan onto thin film, which is laminated between safety glass, recreating the appearance of a rainforest. The gigantic public art installation spans 1,000 square metres and is distributed across the station’s skylight, side walls, and escalators, forming a massive green tapestry that transforms the imposing station structure into a light‑filled, translucent, floating canopy of an aerial rainforest. It creates the illusion of being on the ecological trail of the half-screen mountain, while also reminding every passerby of the relationship between land, environment, and humanity—an experience that is both visually stunning and contemplative.
