Zhitan Mountain is located in Qushi Village, Xindian District, New Taipei City, at the confluence of three rivers: Xindian River, Beishi River, and Nanshi River. From the summit, you can see Huayuan New Town up close to the north, and Dàtǒng Mountain to the south. The mountain trail was also an important border patrol route during the Japanese rule. With an elevation of 728.8 meters, Zhitan Mountain is situated near Xindian River in Qushi, Xindian District, New Taipei City. From the northwest of the summit, you can overlook Huayuan New Town community. The main ridge is the northern ridge of Xue Shan. To the south are Dàtǒng Mountain and Luo Hong Mountain. To the west are Xiong Kong Mountain and Shi Zi Mountain. There are several hiking routes in this area, varying in length and distance. The main route is the Zhitan Mountain Range Traverse, which requires hikers to go through seven mountain peaks, such as Zhongling Mountain, Jixin Point, Anbaojian Mountain, Chijiao Lan Mountain, and Shiding Back Mountain, etc. (over 25 kilometers). However, due to the long and undulating route, it's not suitable for ordinary hikers except for those in good physical condition.
