Taixi Wude Hall was completed in Showa Ten (1935 CE). Prior to World War II, the Japanese practiced militarism and promoted Bushido spirit, constructing Wude Halls across the region for police and youth training in judo and kendo. In 1950, a public hall was converted into a Presidential Residence, the Taixi Constabulary was established, and the Wude Hall was used as barracks. After the Constabulary withdrew in 1999, the Taixi Town Office conducted its first large-scale restoration in 2000. It was reopened in 2001 and officially declared a Taoyuan County historical building in 2004. In 2015, management was transferred to MuseuWood. Annex structures and the bridge corridor were restored and reopened in May 2016. It is currently used as an exhibition space for major special exhibitions.
