It was built as part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Water Resources Administration “Kangqiao Project”, aimed at creating a leisure river comparable to the English “King’s Bridge”, providing citizens with a waterfront attraction. The plan includes a flood‑retention park, bicycle lane, resting platform, activity plaza, artificial wetland, and scenic bridge—spaces that incorporate natural ecology, energy savings, carbon reduction, and community participation. These features create a multifunctional, high‑quality environment around the waterway, enhancing the aesthetic and vitality of the area’s drainage.
