新北市淡水區鼻頭街22號
The area around Tamsui Metro Station was formerly known as "BiZiTou". After Tamsui Port was opened, Western-style buildings and trading houses lined the streets. In addition to the Five Great Trading Houses - BaoShun, DeJi, ShuiLu, HeJi, and YiJi, JiaShi Trading House was also among them. The oil storage warehouse and tank of the Shell company, located at No. 22, BiTou Street, was originally the "British JiaShi Trading House Warehouse". It is now the site of the Tamsui Cultural Foundation and Tamsui Community University. In the first year of Tongzhi (1862), Tamsui Customs officially opened, and Tamsui Port quickly became the largest port in northern Taiwan, accounting for over 60% of Taiwan's trade. Tea, coal, and camphor were major exports. The most famous ones are the British BaoShun Trading House and the Shell company's oil storage tank warehouse. A century later, most of the trading houses and warehouses have disappeared, but the Shell warehouse was left due to property disputes. Under the efforts to preserve the Tamsui Riverbank landscape, it was reported as a historical site and became an important artifact of the golden age of Tamsui's opening to trade. It is now a municipally designated historic site. The former British JiaShi Trading House Warehouse (Tamsui Shell Warehouse), a municipally designated historic site in New Taipei City, has four large warehouses, three small buildings, and oil tank ruins, covering an area of nearly 4,000 pings. It witnessed important historical moments such as Tamsui's opening to trade, Japanese rule in Taiwan, and the US bombing of Taiwan during World War II. It is one of the few remaining trading house warehouses in northern Taiwan and one of the few industrial heritage sites in Taiwan.
