The fishermen who operate fixed nets in Nanao return to the harbor twice a day, at 7 am and 4 pm, with a full load of fish. Since the waters outside Nanao are deep and the Kuroshio Current passes through, most of the caught fish are medium to large-sized and high-priced migratory fish. The sea area around Nanao is relatively unpolluted, with fresh and sweet fish. When the fishing boats dock, many people rush to buy the fresh catch, fearing that they might not get their preferred fish species.
