Lauded as “the most beautiful catwalk on the North Coast,” the Zhilan Park Seaview Platform was completed in August 2021 and now welcomes visitors in a brand-new look. Travelers can stroll along the aqua-blue wave-shaped corridor as if walking into the heart of the sea, enjoying a 360-degree, unobstructed panorama of the stunning seascape and the afterglow of sunset. At the far end of the platform, a romantic art installation turns the spot into a must-visit photo op for couples and tourists alike.
Originally a famous landmark in Sanzhi, the Zhilan Park Seaview Platform had been closed for years after severe sea erosion rendered it unsafe. Rebuilt atop the original foundation, the new 57-metre-long aqua-blue promenade ends in an oversized, glittering wedding ring. Created by local Sanzhi artists in collaboration with the municipal professional team, the ring-shaped installation symbolizes “fate as the intent, unity as the image, and the band as the form.” Painted in ocean hues, its dynamic, rhythmic form echoes the vast seascape and adds a vibrant touch to the North Coast.
The reconstructed platform links to the Zhilan Park footpath; from here visitors can walk about five minutes to Qianshuiwan Coastal Park to splash in the waves on a hot summer day, relax in a seaside café over afternoon tea while taking in the North Coast’s sunrise and sunset, or string together the area’s romantic landmarks—“first encounter on Bali’s Love Boat, passionate courtship on Tamsui’s Lovers’ Bridge, vows on Sanzhi’s sea platform, and engagement at Shimen’s Bell of Happiness”—for a sweet getaway with a loved one.
