苗栗縣南庄鄉大同路43號
The Nanzhuang Visitor Center was established on April 20, 2003. The current building is the first green building certified visitor center under the jurisdiction of the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications. The building meets four major indicators: green space, site water conservation, daily energy saving, and water resources. It is located next to the Nanzhuang Old Street and was inaugurated on January 17, 2009. Nanzhuang was once prosperous with forests and mining, but later it was replaced by the tourism and leisure industry. It is a multicultural township with a blend of Hakka and indigenous cultures. Therefore, the interior design of the visitor center incorporates elements of Hakka and indigenous cultures. It provides tourists with travel information, consultation services, attraction introductions, multimedia video guides, and free experiences of indigenous and Hakka clothing. Additionally, it offers convenient services such as wireless internet (iTaiwan), car charging, luggage storage, wheelchair and umbrella borrowing, and reading glasses for the elderly. The activity plaza next to the visitor center regularly hosts street performances and seasonal festivals on holidays. To promote handicrafts, the visitor center holds free "handicraft DIY" workshops every month, inviting local Hakka and indigenous teachers to provide hands-on instruction, allowing tourists to experience the beauty of different cultures.
