The Stone Diau Trail Group is located near Shizhuo, on the way to Alishan Highway. The Alishan National Scenic Area Management Bureau has reorganized and extended the existing trails, introducing six trails: Mist Trail (originally Shizhuo Trail, 880m long), Tea Trail (1030m long), Cloud Trail (originally Shanlin Trail, 700m long), Dusk Trail (530m long), Cherry Blossom Trail (990m long), and Love Trail (662m long).
The Love Trail starts from Shizhuo and turns into County Road 159, about 1 kilometer away, which is the south entrance of the Love Trail. If you follow County Road 169, you can reach the north entrance of the trail. The trail has wooden stairs that are easy to climb, even uphill. Along the way, you'll see tea fields, peach trees, and farms. At the midpoint pavilion, you can see a vast mountain landscape. The remaining wooden stairs lead to the north entrance, which is less than 100 meters away. If you have enough energy, you can walk to the west side, to a viewing platform amidst the cypress trees, to see more beautiful scenery.
The Tea Trail entrance is separated from the Mist Trail by the Beai Tong Lin Road, which connects Dinghu and Shizhuo. The trail entrance is 1.5 kilometers from Shizhuo and 3.1 kilometers from Dinghu. The roadside has large areas of Taiwan cypress plantations, which have grown into forests. The trail starts with a gentle slope, with bamboo forests on both sides, owned by the Alishan Township Public Land. After the bamboo forest, you'll see green tea fields. The trail then rises gently to an industry road. Along the way, you can see a vast tea plantation and a good view of the surrounding mountains.
The Mist Trail was originally a small path for collecting and transporting goods from the mountain. It starts at the 63.4 kilometer mark of Provincial Highway 18, turning into an industry road. The south entrance is lined with tea plantations and Chinese fir trees. The middle section has dense Mengzong and Shougao bamboo, with cement and grass brick pavement. Although there are fallen yellow bamboo leaves, you still need to be careful not to slip. The north section has wooden stairs leading up, with dense bamboo forests on both sides. There are also some palm trees revealing the past industrial life.
The Dusk Trail is also located at the 63.4 kilometer mark of Provincial Highway 18, turning into an industry road. The trail passes through the south entrance of the Mist Trail and Wu Feng Temple, then reaches the west entrance of the Dusk Trail. Across from it is the north entrance of the Cherry Blossom Trail.
The Cherry Blossom Trail is a popular spot for viewing cherry blossoms. Every year when the cherry blossoms bloom, it attracts a large number of visitors. The trail extends downhill, about 100 meters long, with wooden stairs that are flat and easy to walk on.
The Cloud Trail starts from an industry road and passes through the entrances of the Mist, Dusk, and Cherry Blossom trails. It continues to a higher elevation, to a trail that allows you to see clouds. The trail starts from the west entrance, passes through bamboo forests, and enters a deep forest with giant trees.
These six trails all have unique features and offer beautiful scenery of mist, clouds, sunsets, tea plantations, Chinese fir forests, and bamboo forests.
