The Neidong National Forest Recreation Area is located in Wulai, New Taipei City, Taiwan. It covers an area of approximately 1191.34 hectares and has an elevation of about 230 to 800 meters above sea level. The area has three streams: Nanshi Stream, Neidong Stream, and Wusha Stream. The river ecosystem is a distinctive feature of the park. The recreation area has three hiking trails: Guàn Pù Trail (瀑布步道), Forest Bathing Trail (森林浴步道), and Scenic Trail (賞景步道). Neidong Forest Recreation Area has high humidity and well-preserved natural ecology. During spring and summer, the area is home to various frogs and insects, and it is known as "Wawa Valley" (娃娃谷) due to the sounds of these animals. The Luohou Dam (羅好壩), completed in 1947, is an important hydraulic engineering project within the forest recreation area. The name "Luohou" comes from the Atayal language word "Lahaw" (拉號). The dam intercepts water from Nanshi Stream and channels it through a 4.7-kilometer tunnel to the Wulai Power Plant, generating electricity using the elevation difference between the two locations. The dam's impressive structure is a notable attraction in Neidong Forest Recreation Area. The Neidong Stream Waterfall Group is located at the end of the recreation area, where Neidong Stream flows into Nanshi Stream. The powerful water flow creates a spectacular scene and brings rich negative ions, often referred to as "vitamin in the air." Visitors can walk on the Guàn Pù Platform to observe the waterfall up close and enjoy the refreshing feeling brought by the negative ions. The Neidong Forest Recreation Area currently allows pets on the Guàn Pù Trail (觀瀑步道) only, although the Forest Bathing Trail and Scenic Trail are not pet-friendly. This allows visitors to take their beloved pets to enjoy a forest bathing experience together.
