Jin'an Temple is dedicated to Lord Fa, originally named Zhang, hence it is also commonly known as the Temple of Lord Zhang. This is the oldest temple in Su'ao. Lord Fa is the guardian deity of Quanzhou, Fujian, indirectly indicating that people from Quanzhou were also the first Chinese to migrate to the Su'ao area. At that time, pioneers heading overseas to find a place to settle invited their local guardian deity, Lord Fa, to accompany them on their journey aboard ships. To purify the noxious miasmas of the untamed land, they built a temple to worship Lord Fa around Su'ao’s Bai Mi Weng and Yongchun district. Later, through diligent development, they cultivated a large plain in the area of Sanxing Dapu, which afterwards attracted nearly a hundred Quanzhou ancestors to relocate to Yilan. In Jin'an Temple, there is preserved a piece of traditional blue-dyed cloth with 26 names of pioneers who led the land development efforts, and inscriptions remain on commemorative steles, which have great historical value. Jin'an Temple also has an interesting story: in general, stone lions on either side of temple gates are arranged "left male, right female," but Jin'an Temple is the reverse. Coincidentally, most of the store owners in front of the temple are women, which has given this area a local nickname of "Jingmou Street," a quite amusing legend throughout Su'ao. In the past, every year on Lord Zhang's commemorative ceremony (on the 8th day of the third lunar month), the temple would host grand events and hold deification processions to pray for peace and prosperity in the surrounding area, a highly important festive activity in Su'ao. In recent years, Jin'an Temple has begun organizing cultural "banquet culture" events to connect local emotions and revive traditional folk culture, inviting opera and musical drama troupes to perform, creating a very lively atmosphere.
