The old railway tracks in Hualien City were once part of the Hualien-Yangbiyu Railway that passed through Hualien's urban area to the seaside train station, with a total length of approximately 1.8 kilometers. After the Northern Link Railway opened in 1979, the transportation center shifted, and the old tracks gradually faded into the chaotic cityscape as they lost their original function. In 2003, an 18-meter stretch of road on Chenggong Street in the city was opened, despite being the shortest road in all of Hualien City, yet it plays the most crucial role in reviving the charm of the old commercial district. This old track route connecting Zhongzheng Road to Jieyue Street offers a vibrant market atmosphere with bustling crowds. A variety of creative ideas emerge from the roadside, and people interact and sell goods through their own unique styles. In this small coastal city nestled between mountains and the sea, the market charm of Hualien can be easily appreciated within a person's walking distance. At night, when all of the shops' decorations are lit up, simply taking a stroll here is an enjoyable experience in itself. When visiting Hualien, you must walk this path to fully appreciate its appeal!
