What kind of time concept is "ten years"? If calculated in days, it's 3650 days; if in hours, it's 87600 hours; and if in minutes, it's a staggering 5256000 minutes. This enormous numerical concept represents the decade-long journey of Chi-Li Art, which has traversed this extensive period, reflecting on the past and expanding its artistic horizons with a sincere and multifaceted approach. This decade embodies the gallery's persistent ideal and, of course, the fruit of its dedication. Located in a quiet alley on Da-an Road in Taipei, Chi-Li Art's gallery space exudes a contemporary and diverse artistic atmosphere. Over the years, it has curated over a hundred exhibitions featuring classic artworks, ranging from two-dimensional ink paintings and paintings to three-dimensional sculptures. Chi-Li Art extends its curatorial concept to theme-based exhibitions, planning shows that showcase various forms and categories of art. Importantly, in addition to hosting solo and group exhibitions of renowned artists, the gallery also focuses on current trends in Eastern ink art, curating group exhibitions of new ink artists. These young artists express and reflect the cultural context of contemporary Taiwanese ink art, presenting forms that do not adhere to traditional techniques and compositions, showcasing a new perspective on ink art that differs from the past. For example, in 2014, Chi-Li Art in Taipei hosted "Taiwanese Ink and Korean Painting: The Encounter of Contemporary Ink Art," and in 2015, it collaborated with the National Seoul University Museum of Art to present "Macro and Micro: Phenomena of Korean and Taiwanese Ink Painting." In the realm of abstract art, the gallery curated "Alternative Abstraction: The Intersection of Hot and Cold - An Exhibition of Abstract Art from Taiwan and Korea" in 2015. This exhibition was organized by inviting Dr. Moon, Chief Researcher of the Korean Art Research Institute, to curate a joint show featuring important contemporary ink and abstract artists from Taiwan and Korea. The motivation behind the exhibition was to explore the different manifestations of contemporary ink and abstract art in Taiwan and Korea, given the distinct national characteristics and internal creative driving forces. The exhibition also aimed to deepen cultural and artistic exchanges between Taiwanese and Korean artists and scholars, facilitate interactions among galleries, artists, and collectors, and stimulate the art market and collection, creating a more vibrant artistic ecosystem. Ten years of dedication have enabled Chi-Li Art to grow and mature, moving towards academic, contemporary, and international directions. General Manager Chen Hui-chun remarks, "Ten years of hard work." Even in the face of a challenging environment and potential setbacks or downturns, the team's passion and ideals remain unwavering. Instead, they are more focused on developing a larger international perspective, and the second decade is just about to begin... (Source: nonpool art)
