Seeing the green tunnel turn into a bike path, she watched crowds of cyclists and fitness buffs stream through Yong’an every day. A stranger in a new land, she hatched a business idea: starting with drinks and shaved ice, then setting out a single table to serve food. The reason was simple—she and her husband loved seafood, and word of her superb home-style cooking spread quickly among customers. The name “Green Tunnel” came naturally: apart from the location, a century-old banyan happened to spread its canopy over the shop, so the former “Mainland Girl Restaurant” was reborn. Most visitors arrive with high expectations; they shun the air-conditioned private rooms and prefer to dine under the shade, convinced that food tastes even better in the embrace of nature.
