Located within Taiping Township on the Nanwei Highway, the First Light of the Year Memorial Park welcomes numerous visitors each New Year's Day, where crowds eagerly await and cheer for the arrival of the first sunrise of the year. The beautiful coastal scenery is also an attractive feature. However, beyond the Memorial Park lies another less-known bay with equally delightful coastal scenery named Huayuan Bay. As its name suggests, turning into the coast-side road leads directly into Taiping Township's Huayuan village, nestled between the Central Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean. This spot offers an excellent vantage point for sunrise viewing, and on clear days, even Green Island and Orchid Island can be glimpsed. The azure sea and sky, paired with a smooth, sandy shoreline, evoke a tropical atmosphere of a southern island paradise without needing to travel abroad. To accommodate visitors, a temporary parking lot and pavilion have been set up alongside Nanwei Highway. On the beach itself, a heart-shaped signboard and the characters "平安" (Pinyin: "Ping’an," meaning "Safety and Peace") stand installed, aiming to invite lingerers and encourage appreciation of the beauty unique to this place. For those with extra time, capturing photographs at the nearby Coconut Grove Promenade is also recommended. Though measuring only 100 meters in length, its two sides lined with coconut trees against a background of the deep blue sea have transformed it into a new, hidden gem for filming and photography. Avid photographers have affectionately nicknamed this area "Coconut Sea Grand Avenue."
